The fortress is easily accessible from the village of Costeşti (commune of Orăștioara de Sus, Hunedoara county) situated on the county road (DJ) 705A, at 20 km of Orăştie. Near the tourist chalet of Costeşti the asphalt road ends in a stone-paved road continuing towards Grădiştea de Munte. In the same location there is a crossroad from which a stone-paved road starts towards the Luncani-Târsa plateau, accessible only to off-road vehicles. Once the bridge over Apa Grădiştii is crossed, on the left side of the road starts a dirt-path towards the fortress of Blidaru. The estimated time for the climb is of approximately 50 minutes, the first part being the most difficult one.
